Maternity Fashion: Maternity Fashion Trend

Becoming pregnant means that everything in your life changes, especially your body. So when your body changes then obviously what you wear on your body must change as well. Just because you have to change your wardrobe, does not mean you have to sacrifice fashion and looking good.

Especially in these modern times as pregnant women are viewed as beautiful and even hip. Pregnant women do have different rules than others though. It is important that they stay more modest than maybe they normally would. This is because revealing clothes on a pregnant woman is not attractive and is in fact very unbecoming of them.
Pregnant women can still go for the sexy look, but it needs to be in a different way than with revealing and tight-fitting clothes. Exposing your pregnant belly is most of the time not considered a fashionable look. In fact, some view it as inappropriate. This means that you will need to find maternity t shirts and other clothes that are long enough to go around that beautiful new pregnant belly.

I think most pregnant women care more about being comfortable than fashionable. However, you do not have to give up one for the other. For example, maternity t shirts are a very convenient way to stay comfortable and fashionable. There are many stylish maternity t shirts online that do not necessarily have to be an XXL non maternity t shirt.

The regular style of t shirts that are small and fitted have to be adjusted to cover a pregnant belly. This is why there are so many maternity t shirts available online. They have longer fronts so that the rest of the shirt fits your body and your stomach is covered.

Sometimes, it is not necessary to buy clothes made specifically for pregnant people. You could purchase a dress made out of stretchy material that would work just fine.
Additionally, you may be able to add certain pieces to the outfits you already have to make them appropriate. For example, maybe you have a favorite t shirt that does not quite fit but you do not want to buy a maternity t shirt. You could get a cardigan to throw over it to cover up the parts that do not fit but still be able to show off the design of the shirt.

All it takes is a little bit of creativity to keep yourself looking fashionable and hip throughout your pregnancy.

Fur & Feathers Fashion Trend

Fur & Feathers: Where the Wild Things Are!

OK so the winter is on its way and its cold and we all know when it’s cold we don’t feel like showing off our little black dresses but that doesn’t mean we can’t still be stylish and trendy!
This winter fur is on track again and it is more popular than ever before. Not only does fur look chic and fashionable, it is also warm! Great News!
Add fur or feathers to any outfit and make a Queen out of any woman. However, you don’t need to dress head to toe in them to be down with the trend!

If you don’t feel like wearing a completely fur coat you could think of buying a coat with a fur collar or adding a fur accessory to an outfit to finish it off. You’ll be able to find all sorts of accessories trimmed with fur this season from hats and gloves to boots and bags.
And what about feathers? Wearing too much can run the risk of making us look like a swan, so feather details are best for this one. Think feather edges on dresses and skirts to create an elegant look. A feathered accessory or jewellery is a fantastic way to invest in this trend. You don’t have to spend a fortune on genuine fur and feathers but remember that nothing looks worse than a cheaply made fur garment (whether genuine or faux), so invest accordingly and go ahead and have fun with the rest of the flock!

Coming Soon: Get great looks with fur and feather!

Trend Collection – Bold Shoulder

With the 80’s trend being absolutely massive right now in women’s fashion, the bold shoulder has made a dramatic return on the catwalk previews and in the world of celebrities. When I say bold shoulder, I mean exaggerated definition of the shoulder area like they had back in the day with shoulder pads. Now no-one is saying we should all be reaching for the foam right now, as this season’s hottest trend is made simple with the beautiful collection of shoulder detailed pieces available for us all to buy.
Today’s bold shoulder trend concentrates on bringing it bang up to date – and in some cases going futuristic with it. The shoulders on the latest collections are structured and are all about creating drama with delicate detailing and cuts. As you can see above, this trend has taken off massively with everyone from Diane Kruger to Kim Kardashian to Miley Cyrus rocking the trend in their own individual way.

The key piece in this party season would be the structured shoulders dress. If you are looking for a new LBD then you would not go wrong getting your hands on one of these, as it will be bang on trend whilst making a massive statement. It can’t fail to have people looking at you and admiring your style. Don’t think it ends there though, as there are blazers, tunics and tops which all make use of this trend and can be worked into your wardrobe easily.

Women’s Party Fashion Trend – Velvet

Recently I have seen a lot more velvet clothing available within the latest women’s collections. It is going to be a key trend this winter, especially in the whole party season scene. The men are getting right into this trend at the moment, with everything from Blazers, to linings and footwear featuring this luxurious fabric. The women are never left behind though, so we are seeing some beautiful dresses, jackets, footwear and accessories released just in time for your big night.

Velvet is just an amazing fabric, it exudes extravagance and class, which is just what you need for a formal event or the office party. It can be show stopping especially if you pick a statement piece like a velvet dress or play suit for an edgier twist. The fabric becomes a true focal point to your outfit, and it means that you can then tone down the rest using killer black heels, and clutch purse for a look that is pure chic, but totally sexy at the same time.
If you are not confident enough to pick out full velvet clothing, you can get some amazing mixed velvet items that are teamed with more subtle fabrics as well as clothing that just has velvet detailing or lining. A perfect way to get in on the trend without being over the top. The other great benefit to velvet is that is adds amazing texture to any outfit. It will definitely make you stand out in comparison to all the other LBD’s and with feathers, faux fur, studs and other detailing being the major trends this year, we can see that it is all about texture in order to create great outfits.

So take a look below at some of the best velvet items I have found this season.

Women's Fashion Trend - Leopard Print Coats

Classy not Brassy!
Leopard print is always in fashion whether it’s a item of clothing or an accessory and personally I wear the odd bit of leopard print all year round, but at the moment the must have leopard print trend is in the form of a vintage coat.

The new collections in our favourite stores on the high street heavily feature the leopard print coat and it seems to be pretty popular with our favourite celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Kate Moss, Mary-Kate Olsen. See pictures above for just how big this has taken off with the fashionista’s.

Leopard Print is a love it or hate it trend an understandably you might hear the words ‘leopard print’ and automatically think ‘Bet Lynch’ but this is so not the case! After reading this I’ll having you thinking more along the lines of classy not brassy!

Leopard prints are no longer considered trashy, as proved by our celebrity fashionistas, and the print coats are a perfect and chic way to keep warm through winter. However, like most trends there’s a trick to pulling off the leopard print coat trend so listen up…

Shorter girls should go for cropped coats or thigh length versions while taller girls can go all out in a maxi length coat if they wish!

As leopard print is such a bold trend I would stay clear of wearing it at the same time as any of the other major detailing trends i.e. lace, sequins etc. Now this would be brassy!

Remember to keep it simple and wear with jeans or leggings in the day, but go wild on a night out and wear it with your favourite LBD. Try accessorising yours with a red or black belt to add instant glamour, show off your waist and give it a better shape.

Women's Crochet Fashion Trend

Slimline Your Knitwear

Everyone is wearing Crochet this season, especially celebrities such as Khloe Kardashian and Jameela Jamil. This is probably thanks to designers such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Chanel, Pucci, Rodarte, Nicole Ritchie (Winter Kate) and Bec and Bridge, for putting Crochet on their recent catwalks. It shouldn't come as a surprise really; Crochet was bound to make an appearence soon after lace and knit wear took over the style waves last A/W. You could say Crochet is less daring, less revealing older sister to lace but the younger, slimmer sister to knit wear - which makes it perfect for this in-between 'not sure about going out in just this vest top weather'.

Those with the less focused fashion eye could easily confuse all three as the same thing, but the truth is they are all worn in different ways. There aren't too many rules to apply when wearing crochet but the best way is to keep it simple. It's more often worn as casual day time wear, although on occasion a crochet dress worn with heels and accessorised appropriately can be worn for the evening. Some of the easier items to wear include handbags, headbands, scarves, jewellery, waistcoats and not forgetting Ugg boots (makes winter worthwile) - which are all good pieces to just throw on to complete a simple outfit.

A crochet bikini is the perfect thing to lay beside the pool in this summer and can also be worn as a bodice, teamed with a pair of shorts (denim or otherwise). When wearing crochet waistcoats it is important not to wear it with a top that has any layering, frills or other conflicting fabrics on it. Keep the rest of the outfit uncomplicated. Also try to keep it tune with the feel of crochet, for example do not wear your nice cream crochet dress with your pink Nike hi-tops. Try to stay away from crochet flat pumps - that is of course unless you are a trendy ninety-nine year old. And do not team an oversized crochet jumper with odd looking baggy trousers and your gym trainers, because well, to put it simply, you'll be mistaken for a homeless person.

So, if you found lace a bit perilous to wear and thought knit wear was too frumpy, get inspired by a look I made with my doll and let the fashionista inside you take care of the work!

Autumn/Winter 2010 Fashion Trend - The Cape

Superwoman!
The cape has made a big comeback for Autumn/Winter 2010 and has been given a modern transformation as well. The cape coat has long been in and out of women’s fashion, but this season there has been a large backing by not only the premium designer houses, but the high street as well. Yes, the cape is about to become mainstream, and I think it is a perfect way to update your Autumn/Winter wardrobe this year.

The cape is fun, versatile and is THE ultimate “throw on and go” piece. This can be used in all your casual outfits these coming seasons and if you pick the right colour, it can easily be adapted to any trend you throw at it. For this reason I am recommending you pick timeless colours such as black, grey and navy or the new camel colours (which are a big trend piece). Try to keep detailing subtle, and it will allow you to pair it with any item you have in your wardrobe in order to create new outfits and looks on the fly as the new trends develop.

Capes on the Runways
As you can see below, many of the major premium designers featured capes in their A/W 10 previews. Below you will find examples from Alexander Wang, Etro, Missoni, Yves Saint Laurent, Celine, Rag & Bone, Jaeger London and many more. They came in all styles, shapes and sizes, which means there is bound to be one which matches your wardrobe and flatters your figure:

How to Wear!
While the runway looks above can provide inspiration to how to adapt trends to our wardrobe, often they are not accessible to the everyday woman’s sense of style or even body shape. However the cape is wonderfully versatile and can be paired with what you already have in your wardrobe. For day time looks, think about throwing the cape on over a simple top or knitwear should the weather be cold. Use skinny jeans, shorts, pencil, a-line or even mini skirts for your bottom half as they will all look great against the contrast of the cape’s volume on the top half. Cape coats create a really dramatic top heavy silhouette that cannot fail to be noticed.

If you want to add some chic for a nightime date or event, then simply throw your cape on over the top of a badydoll or statement dress, match with heels and clutch – you have an elegant look with has an added edge and high fashion feel to it. Plus it will subtly show off just enough flesh on your bottom half to keep eyes firmly on you.

Get them!
There are plenty of fashionable capes on StarPlaza. All you have to do is, choose the right cape for your body type!
