Panasonic HDC-HS80
Panasonic HDC-HS80 |
The Panasonic HDC-HS80 measures just 60mm x 64mm x 109mm (W/H/D) and weighs a minute 265g. The camera records full 1080p video at an impressive 50 frames per second. Featuring a 120GB hard drive, the HDC-HS80 allows you to record up to 20 hours of video without having to decant to a PC. Battery life is solid with 2 hours of recording time from one charge. The HDC-HS80 also features a powerful LED video light, 3MP still image capture, 2.7” touch screen LCD and HDMI, Mini USB and composite outputs, enabling connection to most devices, PC and TV alike.
The Panasonic HDC-HS80 is a great camera to use – the button placement is intuitive and natural. The touchscreen is responsive and bright and due to its diminutive size – the HDC-HS80 is a joy to hold for long periods of time.
The two biggest winners on the HDC-HS80 are the zoom lens and optical image stabilisation. This is the highest level of zoom we have seen out of all our recent camcorder reviews and twinned with the brilliant OIS, you never have to deal with shaky camera syndrome again!
AVCHD format also meant that recordings were easy to get onto a computer and we were editing in no time at all.
The HDC-HS80 is small and has more features than you can shake a stick at. The lack of advanced manual controls may put some off, but for 90% of home movie recording the HDC-HS80 is fantastic.
